The Best Plays of 1977-1978 lists the start of performances as October 5, 1977, with a press date of November 22, 1977, but performances started on October 4, 1977, and the press date seems to have been November 23, 1977.

Theatre World for the 1977-1978 season does list October 4, 1977, as the start of performances, although there is no indication in Theatre World that the date was not opening night.  

Theatre World lists 62 performances, while Best Plays lists 63 performances. As far as we can tell, a total of 64 performances, including previews, were played: 57 previews, and 7 performances from opening night (or the press date) till the closing.
