The score was lost for many years. It was tracked down at the Library of Congress when book-writer and lyricist James Lipton was preparing the studio cast recording.
To get permission to use the source material, Lipton and Rosenthal had to write two-thirds of the show on spec, meaning without the direct promise it would be approved. They wrote and performed five numbers for the widow of Moss Hart and the daughter of George S. Kaufman: "Crockfield," "Marry The Girl Myself," "Imagine That," "Maybe It's Time For Me," and "Sherry!". The women liked the songs, and gave approval to continue with the show.
