Trivia & History
This was to be part of a season of shows including Betty Buckley and Shuler Hensley in Sweeney Todd. According to this Playbill article, Friedman signed on because her representatives thought it might help her boost her reputation in the US, prior to her bow in The Woman in White. However, when contractual agreements between Buckley/Hensley and Tony Georges (director and producer) could not be met, Friedman decided to pull out. This was further exaserpated by the casting of Georges\' mother (and personal hairdresser) in Beauty and the Beast.
