Carleton Carpenter had been with the company as Cornelius during the North American tour and then in Vietnam, Japan and other places, all of which preceded the London run. He was injured during rehearsals for the London run. He was replaced by Garrett Lewis. Some online sources incorrectly state that understudy Robert Hocknell played Cornelius when the production opened in London, and that it was only after the opening that Lewis took over the role, but this is incorrect. Lewis was reviewed when the show opened in London.
