The production announced that it would open on Broadway at the Royale Theatre on April 28, 1964. Previews at the Royale were to start on April 21. Instead, the production closed at the end of the first week of a scheduled two-week tryout run at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia.
The run in Philadelphia was to have been preceded by a partial week at the Shubert in New Haven. The Philadelphia run was to have been followed by a tryout engagement at the Shubert in Boston.
