Built as one of four memorial theatres across the country by the Shuberts in honor of their brother.
The theatre was modelled after the Maxine Elliot in New York.
One of the five dressings rooms has a wall signed by John Barrymore in the 1920s.
Began showing films in 1933 as the World Theatre.
The building was restored to its 1910 appearance in 1986. At that time, a Mighty Wurlitzer organ (from the Texas Theatre in San Antonio) was added.
The theatre was renamed in honor of F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1994.
It is regularly used as a studio for Garrison Keillor's radio show A Prairie Home Companion.
