A 79-year-old widow Mauda has an unlikely romance with a 19-year-old Harold.

Tom Jones worked on a musical version of the source material first with Billy Goldenberg. At least one reading of that version was performed. But for unknown reasons, the version by Jones and Goldenberg was abandoned. Jones then wrote a new version with Joseph Thalken.
