Trivia & History

Originally mounted on Edwin Lester’s West Coast circuit, Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Jule Styne were called in to make additions to the score prior to Broadway.

The 2024 revision by Larissa FastHorse (which was prepared for the 2024 tour) addressed the treatment of Native Americans in the show, including the song “Ugg-a-Wugg”. The problem was earlier addressed in the 2014 television production by means of a significantly revised lyric for the song, written by Amanda Green. It was said that the revised song would go into the standard performing version, but that version of the song was never incorporated.

Some online sources state that a song by Mark Charlap and Carolyn Leigh titled “First Impression” was written for this version of Peter Pan, but the New York Public Library page for the library's Carolyn Leigh collection suggests it was not written for Peter Pan. On that page, the song title is above, not below, the listing of songs written for the show.
