This was recorded during previews, when Mort Shuman was playing Jimmy Mallory. It is audibly Mort Shuman and not Frank Poretta, who took over late during previews, on the recording. We think the recording probably features Joe Butler as Alaska Wolf Joe rather than Bill Copeland, who took over the role during previews, but it's hard to be sure.

Another sign that it was recorded during previews is that a rock band can be heard playing during several numbers. By the opening, the rock band was gone.
