The back of the LP jacket states: "Recorded in New York City, Sept. 26, 27, and 29, 1966."
On Sunday, September 25, 1966, it was reported in the Daily News that Verve Folkways would be recording the following evening's performance, but there was no performance the following evening as the show was playing on a Tuesday through Sunday schedule. There are no audible signs of an audience to be heard on the recording.
Billboard reported that the recording was to be made in the studio on September 26. Evidently, sessions ended up being spread over three days.
