On 12/31/1928, the title was shortened to simply Blackbirds.
The program listing for the song "Porgy" included a note saying "with apologies to the Theatre Guild and Dorothy and DuBose Heyward". This is in reference to the play Porgy which was written by the Heywards and produced on Broadway by the Theatre Guild. Porgy was later adapted as Porgy & Bess.
There were many changes during the run to the program. The only song that was added was an operatic version of "I Can't Give You Anything But Love" sung by Adelaide Hall, Aida Ward and the Choir. It was added to Act Two.
