Synopsis

Nightclub washroom attendant Louis Blore is smitten with singer May Daly, who prefers dancer Alec Howe. After Louis accidentally drinks a drugged concoction, he dreams he is Louis XV and May is Madame du Barry, while Alec becomes a dashing rival at court. In the Versailles fantasy, jealous schemes, mistaken identities, and palace intrigues mirror their modern entanglements. When Louis awakens, the dream clarifies his real-world heartaches, paving the way for the couples to sort out their affections with wit, showbiz sparkle, and a final dose of common sense.
