Audra McDonald was to depart the production on July 24 for maternity leave. Her replacement, Rhiannon Giddens, was cast and in rehearsal. Also joining the cast to make up for the losing of McDonald's star power was choreographer Savion Glover. However, the producers abruptly announced the show's closing.
The showgirl on the promo material for the show is Ann Pennington, who was featured in several editions of the Ziegfeld Follies and George White's Scandals. The photo appeared on sheet music covers for George White's Scandals of 1928.
